For 6th graders interested in choir:

Dear 6th grade parents/guardians:

Hello! My name is Mrs. Pool and I am the high school music director.  I want to invite you all to audition for the APCS 7th and 8th Grade Choir! We have a fantastic time singing and we learn a lot!

Why should I want my student to be in a music program?

Everyone knows the old adage: "Music makes you smarter." But, there's much more to it than that:

  • Learning a craft that will last a lifetime.
  • More chances for scholarships!
  • Learning to work with people in a group (we all need this when we get to the real world!)
  • Finding confidence that will show through in other areas of life
  • Preparing for job interviews through auditions and performance tests!
  • Learning to read and communicate in a universal language: music.
  • Learning time management.

Does my student need to audition for the choir?

Yes, but this audition is to hear your vocal range and let me ask a few questions.  I will also be asking your teachers about your attitude and your grades.  Other than that, it's a very simple procedure!!

If you would like to be part of the APCS 7th and 8th grade choir next year, feel free to email, call or stop by my classroom so we can make arrangements for a VERY QUICK audition!  My classroom is next door to Mrs. New's room.  Please try to contact me within the next week!

Thank you!

Mrs. Pool
