Poetry Out Loud

Congratulations to the Academics Plus Poetry Out Loud champion, senior Alexis Vaprezsan, who won the school competition today with her recitation of contemporary American poet William Baer’s “Snowflake.” The second- and third-place winners were junior Jeremy Abbott (Edgar Allan Poe’s “Alone”) and senior Dave Sweere (Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken”), and honorable mention went to senior Ruoyan Zhang (Langston Hughes’s “I, Too”).


Lexi will recite three poems at the state Poetry Out Loud tournament, which will be held on Saturday, March 5 at Pulaski Tech. She’ll have the chance to advance to the national competition in Washington, D.C., in May.
